Granny Funk Crochet is the brainchild of Megan Sheard, a local crochet artisan whose studies in sustainability led her to wonder what a sustainable post-industrial economy might look like. Megan became convinced that “re-skilling” our society to produce more of its own needs while reconnecting us to the products of our own labour is part of the way toward a more just, joyful and environmentally sound economy, and decided to apply her crochet skills to the cause. Granny Funk Crochet sees itself as part of the broader artisan movement comprised of artists, cooks, woodworkers, gardeners and other crafters working towards a productive and fun way of living. See the classes and events page for details of upcoming classes and events. Check out the crochet pieces at Granny Funk's Etsy shop and read her blog to see just a few of the possibilities. |
